What is the best time of day for natural light?

The left side of the space (when facing the stage) receives direct sunlight through the three windows on that side in the mornings, before noon. The right side receives direct sunlight in the afternoons. Visit our instagram page @thestudioatvalleviews to see photos of the light throughout the day.

Self Check-in and Check-out

We have a keypad doorknob for self-check-in/check-out and a lockbox with a key as a backup system. You will be given instructions for check-in when you book.

Can I add or subtract more time while I’m already in the studio?

If the time is available you may add time by making a separate booking. You are unable to subtract hours from your booking.

What’s the temp?

We have a heater connected to wifi which we can turn on remotely before your arrival time but you can also adjust as needed while you are in the studio. The heater is old and does take some time to warm the space up, so it may be a bit chilly when you arrive. We do not have AC, but the studio has an amazing cross breeze when windows are open on both sides.

Can I bring my own props?

Yes, please do. We have an open space and floor plan for you to set up whatever vignette, furniture, backdrops, etc. you would like. Please return the space to the order in which you found it upon arrival.

Seamless Paper Backdrops

We have a movable (rolling) wall with 3 seamless papers attached and ready to roll down. Additional colors are available and can be swapped out as desired. The current available paper colors are shown below.

We ask you to pay a $10 consumable fee if papers are used. You can pay in advance when booking if you know you will be needing the papers. Or you may Venmo after using the sweep paper.

Is there any lighting equipment for rent?

Yes. We have two (2) Profoto B1 battery-powered heads for rent, stands, modifiers and accessories. It is required that you provide proof of insurance to rent this gear. Your policy should state that rented and borrowed equipment is covered. An email requesting this document will be provided to us if you add the lighting equipment to your rental and a locker code to access the lights will be emailed after we receive your proof of insurance.

Is there any photography equipment available?

Yes. 3 Medalight Studio Strobe PG4001-ML lights with stands and umbrellas come free with your rental. These are good for a hair light or background lights. We also have 2 vee flats with white on one side and black on the other. We have clamps, apple boxes and general photo grip available for your use.
